Local Customs & Warnings

  • Eating while walking: Generally considered bad manners - find a spot to sit
  • Cash is king: Many small restaurants and shops don't accept credit cards - carry enough cash

  • Check if your nationality qualifies for visa-free entry (many Western countries get 90 days)

  • Download Google Maps offline - it has accurate public transport info for Japan
