Chapultepec Castle
Chapultepec Castle perches atop the rocky Chapultepec Hill in the middle of Mexico City's great Bosque de Chapultepec park, the former imperial residence of Emperor Maximilian I and later a presidential palace. Today housing the National Museum of History with exhibits spanning pre-Columbian times to the Mexican Revolution, the castle offers commanding views over the megalopolis from its lush hilltop gardens. The mural of Mexico's Independence War in the Alcázar is a masterpiece of Mexican nationalist art.
