Wat Phra Kaew Bangkok
Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) within the Grand Palace complex is Thailand's most sacred Buddhist temple and the spiritual heart of the Thai kingdom. The temple enshrines a 66-centimeter jadeite Buddha image believed to have been carved in the 1st century CE, which the Thai King ceremonially changes between three royal seasonal robes representing summer, rainy season, and winter. The temple's exterior is a masterpiece of Rattanakosin architecture covered in gold leaf, colored glass mosaic, and intricate mother-of-pearl inlay, making it one of Southeast Asia's most visually stunning religious sites.
