Philosopher's Path

Philosopher's Path

The Philosopher's Path (Tetsugaku no Michi) is a peaceful stone-paved canal path in northeastern Kyoto, named after the philosopher Nishida Kitaro who reportedly walked it daily in meditation. The 2-km route between Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion) and Nanzen-ji passes beneath a canopy of hundreds of cherry trees, creating one of Japan's most celebrated hanami (blossom-viewing) spots in spring.
