Igreja de Sao Vicente de Fora

Igreja de Sao Vicente de Fora

Igreja de São Vicente de Fora is Lisbon's most impressive Baroque church, completed in 1627 and serving as the pantheon of the Braganza royal dynasty whose tombs fill the adjacent monastery. Its vast blue-and-white azulejo tilework cloister depicts scenes from the fables of La Fontaine and offers sweeping views over the Alfama district and Tagus River. The church's twin towers define the skyline of Alfama and are among Lisbon's most recognizable landmarks.
