Belém Tower

Belém Tower

Belém Tower (Torre de Belém) is a UNESCO World Heritage masterpiece of Manueline architecture standing on the bank of the Tagus River in Lisbon. Built between 1516 and 1521 as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon and a fortified lighthouse, its ornate stone carvings celebrate Portugal's Age of Discovery. Generations of ships departing to explore the world sailed past this tower, making it a symbol of Portuguese maritime heritage.
