Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage seascape of 1,969 limestone karst islands and islets rising from the Gulf of Tonkin in northeastern Vietnam, creating one of the world's most iconic maritime landscapes. The islands' towers, caves, floating fishing villages, and emerald green water are best explored on overnight wooden junk cruises that access remote bays inaccessible by day. The bay's name means Descending Dragon, referring to an ancient legend of dragons sent to protect Vietnam.
