Gracia District

The Gràcia District in Barcelona is a bohemian residential neighborhood north of the city center that retains the character of the independent village it was before being absorbed into Barcelona in 1897. Its narrow lanes, pleasant squares (especially Plaça del Sol and Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia), and independent restaurants, bars, and boutiques give it an authentically local character beloved by residents and in-the-know visitors. The Gràcia Festa Major in August transforms the streets into a world-renowned street decoration competition.
