كاتدرائية القديس دومنيوس في سبليت هي اقدم كاتدرائية في العالم لا تزال تستخدم بانتظام للعبادة، وقد تحولت من ضريح روماني مثمن للامبراطور ديوقليطيانوس الذي اضطهد المسيحيين الى كنيسة مسيحية في القرن السابع. لم يفت المعلقين في القرون الوسطى ملاحظة المفارقة الساخرة في تحويل ضريح المضطهد الى كاتدرائية مكرسة لضحاياه المسيحيين. يقدم برج الاجراس في الكاتدرائية افضل المناظر على مجمع القصر المدرج في قائمة اليونسكو والساحل الادرياتيكي.

Diocletian's Palace in Split is the most complete and best-preserved late Roman imperial building complex in the world, a massive 4th-century AD waterfront palace built by Emperor Diocletian as his retirement residence. Today this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a living city within the palace walls, where apartments, restaurants, bars, and a cathedral (converted from Diocletian's mausoleum) fill the ancient cellars and peristyle.
