Dubrovnik's medieval City Walls form one of Europe's best-preserved fortification systems, encircling the entire Old Town in a 1,940-meter loop of limestone ramparts. Rising up to 25 meters high and 6 meters thick, the walls offer breathtaking views over the Adriatic Sea and the terracotta rooftops below. Walking the full circuit takes roughly two hours and is the most popular activity in Dubrovnik.

Lokrum Island is a lush, forested nature reserve just 10 minutes by ferry from Dubrovnik's Old Port, offering a peaceful escape from the city's crowds. The island's botanical garden, a 12th-century Benedictine monastery ruin, a saltwater lake known as the Dead Sea, and a small nudist beach make it an ideal half-day excursion. Peacocks roam freely through the monastery gardens, and a Game of Thrones exhibition tells the story of Dubrovnik's filming history.
