Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji is Japan's highest peak at 3,776 meters and its most iconic natural symbol, a nearly perfect volcanic cone rising above the surrounding plains southwest of Tokyo. Registered as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site, it has inspired Japanese art, poetry, and spirituality for centuries. During the official climbing season (July–September), hundreds of thousands attempt the pre-dawn summit hike to watch the iconic goraikō sunrise from the crater rim.
