Ueno Park

Ueno Park

Ueno Park is Tokyo's most famous public park and one of Japan's first, home to an extraordinary concentration of cultural institutions including the Tokyo National Museum (Japan's largest), the National Museum of Nature and Science, the National Museum of Western Art, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. The park's northern section around Shinobazu Pond is a prime cherry blossom viewing location each spring, when thousands of revelers gather under the blossoms. The surrounding Ueno area retains much of the feel of old downtown Tokyo, with Ameyoko market street and traditional temples and shrines nearby.
