Tianfu Square Metro Station is the geographic and symbolic center of Chengdu's urban subway network, serving as the primary interchange point between Metro Line 1 (north-south) and Metro Line 2 (east-west). The station is located directly beneath Tianfu Square, the city's main civic plaza dominated by a large statue of Mao Zedong, and is surrounded by Chengdu's major government buildings, museums, and the historic Jinjiang Hotel. As the busiest station on the Chengdu Metro, Tianfu Square provides the quickest connections to virtually every major destination in the city, including Chunxi Road shopping, the Giant Panda Base, and both main railway stations.
