Tadrart Rouge
Tadrart Rouge is a remote sandstone plateau in Algeria's Sahara Desert in the Djanet region, one of the world's most breathtaking desert landscapes and an ancient gallery of Saharan rock art. Weathered into towers, arches, and mushroom shapes by millennia of wind erosion, the terracotta and vermillion formations glow orange at sunrise and sunset. Rock paintings and engravings depicting savannah animals, prehistoric humans, and cattle testify to the region's fertile past 8,000 years ago.
