Shinobazu Pond

Shinobazu Pond is a natural pond located within Ueno Park, divided into three sections: the Lotus Pond, the Rowing Pond, and the Shigi Pond. The lotus pond covers most of the water surface and puts on a magnificent display in summer when thousands of lotus flowers bloom, creating a sea of pink blossoms that frames the small Benten-do shrine on a central island. In winter, the pond becomes a stopover for migratory birds, while year-round it provides a peaceful natural oasis amid Tokyo's urban landscape.
