Shinhotaka Ropeway

Shinhotaka Ropeway in Gifu Prefecture is Japan's only two-stage gondola ropeway with double-decker cars, ascending to 2,156 meters above sea level in the Northern Japanese Alps. The panoramic views from the top observation deck encompass a stunning array of 3,000-meter peaks including Mt. Yari, Mt. Hotaka, and Mt. Norikura. In winter, the mountain transforms into a snow-covered wonderland; in autumn, the changing foliage creates a spectacular tapestry of colors visible from the glass-enclosed gondola cars.
