Sé do Porto (Porto Cathedral)
The Sé do Porto (Porto Cathedral) is the oldest monument in Porto, a Romanesque fortress-church whose construction began in the 12th century on a hill overlooking the city. Its austere granite façade, cloisters decorated with azulejo tile panels, and commanding hilltop position make it Porto's most imposing religious landmark. The cathedral's terrace offers sweeping views across the historic Ribeira waterfront and the Douro River.
