Mykonos Windmills
The Windmills of Mykonos are the island's most iconic and photographed landmark, a row of 16th-century whitewashed stone windmills standing on a hill above the harbor of Mykonos Town (Chora). Built by the Venetians to mill flour for their fleet, the windmills have become the defining symbol of the Cyclades. Their silhouette against the vivid Aegean blue, especially at sunset when the golden light illuminates their white walls, is one of Greece's most memorable images.
