Delos Archaeological Site
Delos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece and the Mediterranean, a tiny uninhabited island in the Cyclades that was the sacred birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and consequently one of the ancient Greek world's most important religious and commercial centers. The island's extensive ruins — including a famous terrace of lion statues, a vast commercial agora, residential quarters with intricate mosaic floors, and the Temple of Apollo — are visited by boat from Mykonos and offer one of the most significant encounters with ancient Greek civilization.
