Epidaurus Ancient Theatre
The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, built in the 4th century BC, is the finest and best-preserved ancient Greek theatre in existence, famed above all for its extraordinary acoustics — a pin dropped on stage can be heard in the upper tiers 55 rows away. Set in a green valley of cypress and olive trees in the Peloponnese, it still stages performances of ancient drama each summer during the Epidaurus Festival. The surrounding Sanctuary of Asclepius is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
