Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum (Cairo Museum) is the world's oldest and largest repository of ancient Egyptian antiquities, housing over 120,000 artifacts including the complete treasures of Tutankhamun's tomb. Founded in 1902 in a neo-classical building on Tahrir Square, its galleries span 5,000 years of pharaonic civilization from predynastic times to the Greco-Roman period. The museum's celebrated collection is in the process of being transferred to the new Grand Egyptian Museum near the Giza pyramids.
