Dujiangyan
Dujiangyan Irrigation System is a UNESCO World Heritage marvel of ancient engineering, a 2,300-year-old irrigation system on the Min River in Sichuan Province that has watered the Chengdu Plain without interruption since 256 BC. Built by the Qin Dynasty official Li Bing without using dams, the system diverts water through natural channels in a design so elegant it has never required major reconstruction. The associated Erwang Temple and Qingcheng Mountain Taoist monastery complete a remarkable day trip from Chengdu.
