Daintree Rainforest
The Daintree Rainforest is the world's oldest tropical rainforest, estimated at 180 million years old — predating the Amazon — and covering the Cape Tribulation area north of Cairns in Queensland. A UNESCO World Heritage Area, it is home to more species of plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth than any other place, including rare mammals, birds of paradise, and ancient plant species. The place where the rainforest meets the reef — where the Daintree meets the Great Barrier Reef — is unique on the planet.
