Central Park
Central Park is Manhattan's greatest civic achievement, an 843-acre green rectangle in the heart of New York City that has provided an outdoor refuge for millions of New Yorkers since its creation in 1857. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, its meadows, lakes, woodlands, playgrounds, skating rinks, running paths, and Shakespeare in the Park performances make it the most visited urban park in the United States. Iconic spots include Strawberry Fields, the Bethesda Fountain, and the Conservatory Garden.
