Sirkeci Train Station Istanbul
Sirkeci Train Station is one of Istanbul's most historically evocative landmarks, the former eastern terminus of the Orient Express — the legendary train that connected Paris to Constantinople — and one of the great monuments of Ottoman-era rail architecture. The 1890 station building by August Jasmund, with its Moorish Revival arches and ornate interior tiling, has been preserved as a museum and cultural venue, while the station's operational platforms now handle Istanbul suburban rail services (Marmaray) and connect the European city center to the Asian side through the Bosphorus tunnel. Walking the Sirkeci waterfront promenade adjacent to the station offers views of the Golden Horn and Topkapi Palace.
