Sibiu Historic Center
Sibiu's Historic Center is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Central Europe, a Romanian city whose two historic squares — Piata Mare and Piata Mica — are surrounded by Gothic and Baroque burgher houses, guild towers, and an imposing Lutheran Cathedral. Once the most important German-speaking city in Transylvania, Sibiu served as the European Capital of Culture in 2007, cementing its reputation as one of Romania's cultural jewels. The famous Liars' Bridge and the mysterious-looking house dormer eyes give the city a fairy-tale character.
