Prizren Fortress

Prizren Fortress

Prizren Fortress (Kalaja e Prizrenit) is a medieval hilltop castle overlooking Kosovo's most beautiful city, with origins dating to Byzantine times and significant Austro-Hungarian restoration in the 19th century. The fortress walls enclose the remains of a Byzantine church, Ottoman cisterns, and later military barracks, and offer panoramic views over Prizren's characteristic Ottoman-era cityscape of minarets, mosques, and traditional stone houses. It is the most visited historical monument in Kosovo.
