Plitvice Lakes National Park
Plitvice Lakes National Park is Croatia's oldest and largest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring 16 terraced lakes connected by a series of waterfalls in a dramatic karst canyon. The extraordinary turquoise and emerald colors of the lakes — produced by the interaction of minerals, organisms, and sunlight — change with the seasons and viewing angle. Wooden boardwalks and footpaths wind through the beech and fir forests surrounding the cascades, offering one of Europe's most spectacular natural spectacles.
