Petrovaradin Fortress
Petrovaradin Fortress is an 18th-century Habsburg military fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia, perched dramatically on a 40-meter cliff above the Danube River. With 16 km of underground tunnels, four defensive lines, and a distinctive clock tower with backwards hands (so sailors on the Danube could read it), it is one of Europe's most impressive baroque fortresses. The fortress gained international fame as the site of EXIT, one of Europe's top music festivals held each July.
