Godafoss Waterfall

Godafoss, the Waterfall of the Gods, is one of Iceland's most spectacular waterfalls, where the Skjálfandafljót river plunges 12 meters across a 30-meter-wide horseshoe-shaped ledge. It takes its name from a historic event in 1000 AD when lawspeaker Þorgeir threw his Norse idols into the falls after Iceland adopted Christianity. Easily accessible from the Ring Road, it's a must-stop on any northern Iceland itinerary.
