Gateway Arch, St. Louis
Gateway Arch National Park in St. Louis, Missouri, honors the iconic 192-meter stainless steel arch — the tallest man-made monument in the United States — built as a monument to westward expansion. Designed by Eero Saarinen and completed in 1965, the arch's catenary curve is an engineering marvel containing a tram system that takes visitors to the top for views over the Mississippi River and city. The underground museum beneath the arch tells the story of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and Westward Expansion.
