Everglades National Park

Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, a UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing 1.5 million acres of slow-moving freshwater flowing south from Lake Okeechobee through a mosaic of sawgrass prairies, mangrove forests, and open water to Florida Bay. The park protects the habitat of the endangered Florida panther, American crocodile and alligator (one of the few places where both coexist), manatees, and over 350 bird species including the iconic roseate spoonbill.
