Everest

Mount Everest is the world's highest peak at 8,849 meters, straddling the Nepal-Tibet border. Sacred to Sherpa communities as Chomolungma (Tibetan) or Sagarmatha (Nepali), the mountain holds supreme spiritual and adventurous significance. Trekkers can reach Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) via the classic 12-14 day Khumbu Valley trail. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay first summited on 29 May 1953 in one of history's greatest mountaineering achievements.
