Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain is the jagged dolerite peak and symbol of Tasmania's Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. At 1,545 meters it presides over a dramatic alpine landscape of glacial lakes, buttongrass moorland, and ancient rainforest. The iconic view from Dove Lake — the mountain's reflection perfectly mirrored in the still glacial water — is one of Australia's most reproduced images, and the Overland Track begins here.
