Atacama Salt Flat (Salar)
The Atacama Salt Flat (Salar de Atacama) is Chile's largest salt flat, stretching 3,000 square kilometers in the heart of the world's driest non-polar desert. At 2,300 meters altitude, the brilliant white salt crust creates a surreal landscape. Three flamingo species feed in alkaline lagoons at Chaxa and Miscanti. The otherworldly scenery and clear skies make the Salar one of South America's most photogenic natural destinations.
