Vasa Museum
Attraction
The Vasa Museum in Stockholm is Scandinavia's most visited museum, built around the spectacularly preserved hull of the Vasa, a Swedish warship that capsized and sank on her maiden voyage in 1628 and was raised from Stockholm harbour in 1961. The dark wood ship, virtually intact with original sculptures, rigging, and crew artifacts, is displayed in a purpose-built museum on Djurgården island. The Vasa's story of ambition, hubris, and extraordinary preservation is told through six decks of multimedia exhibits.
