Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain is Rome's most famous baroque fountain and the largest in the city, a theatrical composition of Neptune, his tritons, and rearing horses bursting from the rear facade of the Palazzo Poli. Completed in 1762 by Nicola Salvi, the tradition of tossing a coin into the fountain to ensure a return to Rome was immortalized by Federico Fellini's 'La Dolce Vita.' The fountain collects about €1.5 million per year in coins, which are donated to charity. It is Rome's most visited and most photographed monument.
