Colosseum
The Colosseum is Rome's greatest monument and the most iconic structure of the ancient world, a massive 50,000-seat amphitheatre built between 70-80 AD under Emperor Vespasian and Titus. For four centuries it hosted gladiatorial combats, wild animal hunts, naval battles, and public executions that defined Roman entertainment. Today it is the most visited monument in Italy and the enduring symbol of Rome's imperial grandeur, even in partial ruin.
