Alberobello

Alberobello in the Apulia region of southern Italy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its extraordinary concentration of trulli — traditional dry-stone huts with conical roofs unique to this area of Italy. The hilltop Rione Monti district contains over 1,500 trulli packed into a magical whitewashed village that appears to have emerged from a fairy tale. The trulli's conical roofs are painted with mystical symbols representing astrological, pagan, or Christian beliefs.

Alpe di Siusi

Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm) is Europe's largest high-altitude alpine meadow, a vast 56 sq km plateau in South Tyrol at 1,800–2,350 meters elevation, surrounded by the dramatic Dolomite peaks of Sasso Lungo and Sciliar. In summer the meadows blaze with wildflowers and offer exceptional hiking and cycling against a backdrop of jagged limestone spires; in winter they transform into a cross-country ski paradise connected to the vast Dolomiti Superski network.

Amalfi Coast

The serpentine coastal road is one of the world's most dramatic drives.

Amalfi Town

Amalfi Town is the former maritime republic from which the Amalfi Coast takes its name, a picturesque cliff-hugging town of whitewashed buildings tumbling down to a harbor dominated by the magnificent 9th-century Cathedral of Sant'Andrea. At its 11th-century peak Amalfi was one of Italy's four great Maritime Republics, rivaling Genoa, Pisa, and Venice in trading power. Today the cathedral's ornate bronze doors, Arab-Norman architecture, and the emerald-blue waters of the harbor make it the most beautiful small town on the Amalfi Drive.

Archaeological Park of Paestum

The Archaeological Park of Paestum in Campania, Italy, contains some of the world's best-preserved ancient Greek temples. Founded as the Greek colony Poseidonia in the 7th century BCE, the site features remarkably intact Doric temples. The adjacent National Museum houses the iconic 'Diver' fresco, one of the finest examples of ancient Greek painting. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Italy's most important ancient sites.

Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore is one of Rome's four major papal basilicas and an essential stop for visitors interested in early Christian art and architecture. The church is known for its fifth-century mosaics, richly decorated chapels, and gilded coffered ceiling, with layers of Roman, medieval, and Baroque history visible throughout. Its location near Termini makes it easy to combine with other central Rome sights.
