The peaceful courtyard, shaded by tall trees, bears the scars of Civil War bombings on its church facade—bullet holes that remain as a memorial. The church of Sant Felip Neri and surrounding historic buildings create an atmosphere of quiet history. The square inspired the tragic scene in Ildefonso Falcones's novel 'The Cathedral of the Sea.'
