Pingvellir National Park
Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park is Iceland's most historically and geologically significant site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the world's oldest functioning parliament (the Althing) was established in 930 CE. The park sits in a dramatic rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart — the only place in the world where visitors can walk or dive between two continental plates. Its crystal-clear glacial water in Silfra Fissure is one of the world's top freshwater dive sites, with visibility exceeding 100 meters.
