The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met) is the largest art museum in the Americas and one of the world's greatest cultural institutions, housing a permanent collection of over 1.5 million objects spanning 5,000 years of human history across all world cultures. Located on the eastern edge of Central Park in Manhattan, the Met's encyclopedic collection ranges from ancient Egyptian artifacts — including an entire 2,000-year-old temple (Temple of Dendur) — to European Old Masters, American decorative arts, Asian art, modern and contemporary works, and world musical instruments.
