Cat Linh Metro Station Hanoi

Hanoi · Vietnam

Cát Linh Station is the northern terminus of Hanoi Metro Line 2A — the city's first urban mass transit line, opened in 2021 after a decade-long construction project — and the gateway for commuters from the Ba Dinh and Dong Da districts into the southern suburbs of Hanoi. The elevated metro line runs 13 km from Cát Linh to Yên Nghĩa, connecting key areas including Thái Hà, Lang, and Hà Đông. While the metro network remains in its early stages of development compared to the city's size, Line 2A has attracted significant ridership and represents an important infrastructure milestone for Hanoi. Expansion lines connecting the city center to the airport and beyond are under construction.

Hanoi Train Station

Hanoi Train Station — known locally as Ga Hà Nội — is the main railway terminus of the Vietnamese capital, serving as the northern terminus of the Reunification Express, the 1,726 km line connecting Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City in approximately 35 hours. The station also handles services to the northern border town of Lào Cai (the gateway to Sapa), Haiphong on the coast, and connections into southern China via Dong Dang. The colonial-era station building, dating to the French period, is a handsome piece of tropical railway architecture on Tran Hung Dao Street, conveniently located for hotels in the French Quarter and the western edge of the Old Quarter.

One Pillar Pagoda

The One Pillar Pagoda (Chùa Một Cột) in Hanoi is one of Vietnam's most iconic religious monuments, a tiny wooden Buddhist temple rising from a single stone pillar in the middle of a lotus pond. Built in 1049 by Emperor Lý Thái Tông following a dream of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, it is designed to resemble a lotus flower emerging from water. Though small, it represents one of the most enduring symbols of Vietnamese Buddhism and architecture.

Quan An Ngon Hanoi

Quán Ăn Ngon is one of Hanoi's most enjoyable and genuinely Vietnamese dining experiences, conceived as a covered village market that brings together the best street food dishes from across Vietnam under one roof in a colonial-era villa near Hoan Kiem Lake. Around the perimeter of the central courtyard, individual stalls staffed by specialist cooks prepare bánh cuốn, bún bò Huế, bánh xèo, nem cuốn, and dozens of other regional specialties to order, creating a self-curated Vietnamese food tour without leaving a single address. The atmosphere is festive, the portions generous, and the quality consistently high — making Ngon one of the most effective ways for first-time visitors to sample the breadth of Vietnamese regional cuisine.
