Milan · Italy

Bergamo's Città Alta (Upper City) is one of the finest preserved medieval walled towns in northern Italy, perched 250 meters above the modern city on a dramatic hilltop accessible by historic funicular. Its Venetian defensive walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017, enclose a beautiful medieval streetscape of churches, piazzas, and palaces. Le Corbusier described Piazza Vecchia, at the city's heart, as the most beautiful piazza in Italy.

Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm) is Europe's largest high-altitude alpine meadow, a vast 56 sq km plateau in South Tyrol at 1,800–2,350 meters elevation, surrounded by the dramatic Dolomite peaks of Sasso Lungo and Sciliar. In summer the meadows blaze with wildflowers and offer exceptional hiking and cycling against a backdrop of jagged limestone spires; in winter they transform into a cross-country ski paradise connected to the vast Dolomiti Superski network.
