Basilica of Santa Luzia
The Basilica of Santa Luzia in Viana do Castelo is a neo-Byzantine church perched atop Monte de Santa Luzia with breathtaking views of the Lima River valley and Atlantic coast. Modeled after the Sacré-Cœur in Paris, the basilica offers panoramic views of the historic city below. The hilltop also contains Celtic hill fort ruins, and a funicular railway provides an easy ascent to this spectacular northern Portuguese landmark.
