Bangkok Wat Pho

Bangkok Wat Pho

Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha) is Bangkok's oldest and largest temple complex, home to the magnificent gold-plated Reclining Buddha measuring 46 meters long and 15 meters high, with mother-of-pearl inlaid feet depicting the 108 auspicious characteristics of the Buddha. The temple is considered the birthplace of traditional Thai massage and houses Thailand's first university, where stone inscriptions of traditional knowledge were displayed as public education. Over 1,000 Buddha images and 91 stupas fill the sprawling complex, making it an essential cultural and religious experience in Bangkok.
