Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Reykjavik · Iceland

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is Iceland's largest and deepest glacial lake, a stunning expanse of deep blue water filled with icebergs calved from the retreating Breiðamerkurjökull glacier on the south coast. Electric-blue and white icebergs of extraordinary shapes drift slowly to the sea, stranding on the adjacent Diamond Beach where they sparkle against the black volcanic sand. Guided boat and kayak tours weave between the icebergs for an intimate encounter with this awe-inspiring landscape.

Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach is a dramatic black sand beach on Iceland's south coast adjacent to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where chunks of glacial ice wash ashore and glitter like diamonds. The crystal-clear blue-white ice sculptures create an otherworldly scene against jet-black sand. Seals often rest on the ice blocks. Diamond Beach is one of Iceland's most photographed natural wonders, especially beautiful at sunrise when light catches the crystalline ice.
