Bastille Day
Bastille Day, known in France as le 14 juillet or la fête nationale, is France’s national day. Observed on 14 July, it recalls the storming of the Bastille in 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution, and also the 1790 celebration of national unity. In Paris, visitors can watch the military parade along the Champs-Élysées; military parades also take place in several garrison cities.
