Temple of the Tooth Relic
The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) in Kandy is Sri Lanka's most sacred Buddhist shrine, housing a tooth relic of the Buddha. Set within a complex of royal palace buildings on the shore of Kandy Lake, the golden-roofed inner sanctum is a pilgrimage site for millions of Buddhists. The annual Esala Perahera festival draws massive crowds to witness the relic's ceremonial procession.
