Achillion Palace
The Achillion Palace is a stunning neoclassical mansion on the Greek island of Corfu, built in 1889-91 for Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi) as a personal retreat. Named after the mythological hero Achilles, whose colossal bronze statue anchors the terraced gardens, the palace offers panoramic views over the Ionian Sea. Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany later purchased and expanded the estate, and its gardens with their extraordinary statuary rank among the finest in the Mediterranean.
